The Amberley Murder.
THE PRISONER FOUND GUILT"S AND SENTENCED TO DEATH. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, June 16. The case waa taken to day, the Cour being crowded. The evidence up to tb< adjournment dealt with the finding o tbe body of deceased, and the identifi cation of the prisoner as tbe man wh< was seen in the vicinity at tbe time thi murder was supposed to have beei committed. Dr Syme, called as medical witnes by tbe defence, considered the acousec tq.be a goitrous degenerate man, suffer ing from satyriasis, with abnormally exaggerated sensual desires, which wen not necessarily uncontrollable. Th< accused has at one time received ai injury to his bead, and it might resul in epilepsy, which might induce impul sire insanity of a homicidal or suicida kind. Taking into consideration th< circumstances of the crime, witnesi thought that the accused knew rigb from wrong, and knew that be was doing wrong. The jury found accused guiltj and he was sentenced to death.
