Dr Syme, called as medical witnes by tbe defence, considered the acousec tq.be a goitrous degenerate man, suffer ing from satyriasis, with abnormally exaggerated sensual desires, which wen not necessarily uncontrollable. Th< accused has at one time received ai injury to his bead, and it might resul in epilepsy, which might induce impul sire insanity of a homicidal or suicida kind. Taking into consideration th< circumstances of the crime, witnesi thought that the accused knew rigb from wrong, and knew that be was doing wrong. The jury found accused guiltj and he was sentenced to death.
