Shocking Sudden Death.

To day's Wellington Times says :— A painfully sndden death occurred at tbe Wellington Hospital on Saturday morning. Mr Frank Bassett, a farmer at Obariu, and a son of Mi- Bassett, postmaster, at that place, entered the insti tution for tbe purpose of going under an operation for an injury to one of bis knees. He was placed nodcr chloroform iv the presence of Drs Cabill, Martin, James, Pollen and Ewart, but before tbe operation could be commenced be collapsed, and all efforts to restore vitality were nnavailins.
