After the case t had gone od for some time the Crown 1 Prosecutor said the evidence wss so con 1 tradictory it was useless to proceed, and, t the Judge concurring, the jury found a verdict of " not guilty." t George McCoombe, fin old offender, I pleaded " guilty to falee pretences, o He got two years hard 'abor. A David Douglas, charged with setting t flro to his dwelling at Palmerston North p was acquitted. £
