[from our own correspondent. l There should be no doubt about orchards paying expenses when a settler on tbo Palmerston road cleared £25 from apples and plums last season. His orchard covers 2 3rds of an acre. As well as the coucert, which is to be held on the 16th in aid of the church fund, the members of the English Üburch are considering the ways and means of getting a resident clergyman for Ashurst, Bunnythorpe, and (Jolyton. The funds to be raised in these three places will be some £120 per anDum. The nomination of officers took place at the Otangaki Lodge last evening. Mr W. Print's property in the township has been purchased by Mr Clapham. The sale was offectod through Mr J. H. Vincent, Commission Agont. ~* A special meeting of the school committee was held last evening— Present Messrs Hutcbings, Clarke, Vincent, Gallicban and Hanlon. It was resolved to celebrate the Record Reign by plant trees round the school ground and ■applying the children with light refreshments on June 22nd. Mr Andrew, head-master supplies the tea and sugar. Each child will be presented with a special Record Reign handkerchief by Mrs Clarke, Messrs Vincent, Clarke. Hutchings, and Gallicban were appointed a -sub-committee to make all necessary arrangements. It was resolved to postpone the nsual mid winter holidays until after the examination.
