Sandon Notes
[from our own correspondent. J A meeting was held at Mr H. Hammond's house on Saturday to consider tbe question of oelebrating the Queen's Record Reign. Tbere was a fair number present representing the Sandon, Car*, narvon and Rongotea districts. The Rev J. D. Rnnell occupied the chair and after a lengthy diecui-jion it was decided to hold a gathering on Mr Hammond's ground**, which the children from the schools will ba invited to attend. Amuse, ments will ba provided in tbe afternoon, and a display of fireworks in the evening. A committee was formed to oanvaii for aubaoripiion*, Rev. J. D. Runell being elected chairman, and Mr F. Purnell, Bacralary. It waa alio decided to hold public meetings at Rongotea and Sandon on Tuesday evening, June 8. The subscription lists in aid of tha Rangitikei Flood Relief Fund are atill open, tbe amount received ao far being clove on £'90, and it is hoped that the total will reach the century ere the list closes. ______________________
