A Boy Shot Dead.
o About 1 o'clock on Sunday a fatal gun accident occurred in the Wereroa bush, about three miles and a half from Levin. Edward Travers, 17 years old, and Owen Doyle, 13 year-) old, were shooting pigeont in lhe bueb, Travers carrying a doublebarrelled breech loading gun. While Travers was going round a tree, intending to fire at a bird, he slipped and fell, and the hammer of the gun striking tbe ground, tbe barrel was discharged. The contents struck Doyle, who was about 30 yards off, and entered bis body at the pit of the stomach, causing instantaneous death. Constable O'Connor has telegraphed tbe particulars to Inspector Pender. The deceased lad waa a son of Mr M. Doyle, of Horowhemia Village Settlement, and a brother of Mrs J. Reid, of Shannon The other lad is a son of Mr Travers, roahman.— N. Z. Time?.
