He had only this place to get out from his property and it was necessary to make a cutting to get out. He offered to do the work required for £3. — Offer accepted. Mr .J. McDonald waited on the Board to request that six or seven chains of Siindon-Ilalcoinbo road be formed to Mount Bripgs to make it pas-able. -The Engineer aud warden for No 2 ward were authorised to let tender for the completion of the formatiou of road from end of present formation to juuo tson of the JHalcomc-Sandon road. The committee appointed to inspect the road accvoss which Mr Cotter had placed gates, but which were objected to by Messrs Gardner Bros., reported that thoy did not consider it advisable to insist on the removal of the gates at present as it would be necessary to make a deviation in the road to avoid a swamp and tlirco bad gullies. The road would be almost impassable if fenced, and in the case of a deviation being made a considerable amount of fencing would have to be removed. They recommended that the gates be allowed as at present ; that Mr Cotter be asked to allow the public to go through the paddock near Fitzberbert boundary to avoid gully ; that Mr Cotter be asked to pay 2? 6d per acre for roads used by public and 5s for roads not used ; the lease to be terminated on three months' notice being given ; that the fence across road near eastern side of residence bo removed. Mr Gardiner waited on the Board to urge that Mr Cotter be required to remove the gates on the road line. After discussion the matter was held over until next meeting. Resolved, That the Engineer be instructed to meet the settlers on the Spur road, Pohangina end, on Thursday, June 10, at 10 a.m., ro fence, and report at next meeting. Accounts were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned.
