In another column we publish the ninety third balance-sheet of the Bunk of New South Wales, one of the strongest financial institutions in the world. From the report presented to the general meeting of the proprietors held on the 18th of last month in .Sydney, we learn that the net proßta for the half year ended 31st March after making the usual deductions- and providing for bad and doubtful debts amounted to £87,897 15s 4d to which was added the undivided balance from the previous half year of £22,331 11s 4d giving a total for distribution of £110,229 6* Bd. The directors recommend this very respectable sum should he appropriated as follows — To payment of dividend at the rate of nine per cent per annum £87,727 10s and to balance carried to Profit and Loss new account £22,501 lGs Bd. The paid up capital of the Bank now amounts to £1,949,500 and the reserve fund to £1,101,53 i. la tho re port note is made of the opening of the branch in Feilding under the management of Mr Cotterill The figures as s-ho«'n in the aggregate balance elsewhere speak for themselves and show what splendid financial results can be achieved by consistent and prudent management combined with legitimate commercial enterprise.
