At a general meeting of members i the Feilding Jockey Club, held in M Goodbehire's offce last evening, tbaction of the committee in pnrc'iasin.the racecourse property was contirrac and authority given to raisa a mortgag* of £1000 to complete the pur'-hase. The Clnb are paying £1737 for the property £737 being paid off while the balance will remain on mortgage. A letter wa read from Mr J. E. Heury offering fiv. guineas for expenditure oil tree planting on the property! Mr Henry gives thisdonation as this was the first Club win placed their confidence in him as * haudicappor A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Henry for his donation (Per Press Association.) Auckland, June 1. Violence is scratched for all engagements at the Steeplechase Meeting. (Per Press Association) London, May 31. The latest betting on the Derby, to be run to-day, is— 7 to 2 on Galtee More, 7 to 1 agst Velasquez, 25 to 1 Eager and Berzah. Berzab, having fallen Ume, has been scratched for the Derby.
