WOOL MARKET,
Messrs Levin and Co., Limited, have received from their London agents, Messrs Dalgety and Co., Limited, the following cable message dated the 22nd May: — "The sales have closed. . The bidding has shown increasing spirit, and prices have gained further ground. The total quantity of colonial wool available (including old stocks) was 267,000 bales, of which some 117,000 bales have beou sold for Home consumption, -88,000 bales for the Continent and 12,000 bales for America ; leaving 55,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series. As compared witi the closing rates of last series, the bulk of superior greasy wools of qualities suitable for America are 5 per cont to 10 per cent lower in price ; . good and medium merino greasy wools are at par to 5 per cent higher ; scoured •wools in general of valnos below 14d are at par to 5 per cent higher ; finest greasy crossbreds, 5 per cent to .10 per cent lower; other descriptions, • at par to 5 per cent higher ; greasy merino lambs' wool unchanged; greasy crossbred lambs' wool, 5 per cent lower.
