The Canadian branch of the British Empire League suggests the colonies takes measures to organises naval re. serve. Washington, May 21. The House of Representatives has eudorsed the resolutions passed by the Senate for granting 1000 dollars for the relief of destitute Americans in Cuba. The .Senate by 40 to 14 adopted a resolution according Cuba and Spain equal v/nr rights, the United States to remain neutral in tho Cuban difficulty. The result of the division was warmly applauded in tho spectators' gallery. The Cuban Party in Washington id strongly pressing tho Government to recognise the Cuban belligerents. The American Chambers of Commerce are petitioning the Government to take measures to secure tho peace of Cuba and thereby rescue tho property of the .Americans in Cuba from loss. Madrid, May 20. Senor Sagasta, leader of the Liberals, and members of his party have decided to withdraw then: support from tho Government, considering the political outlook too black.
