With reference to a suggestion which has been made in our columns to the effect that the citizens of Feilding ought to acquire for the benefit of the Borough, the few acres of forest land which now tends to make beautiful a portion of the road to Awahuri, we lid,ve lately been informed that that iiortion of the land which is the pro pert.y of .Mr Turner, will certainly be -■'.m.'fd on tliH market for sale at an , ;u-!y date. If it is intended to do ■niyihiiig at all in this connection we hope steps will "be taken at once by the Mayor and Borough Council to inaugurate a movement to raise the uuuessary funds. It is more than probable that ve r y liberal term 3 will be granted under the circumstances, '• by the proprietor of the land who, we ' may mention, is at present paying a ' brief visit to F<;ildin», where be has a considerable landed estate. The portion of laud we more particularly refer to is that which, for many years past, has been a favorite resort for school fates and picnic parties. In conclusion i we would urge that as such an oppori tunity will not be available again, it , should he taken advantageof promptly. . Sucli a Borough Reserve would be an ■ immense improvement to the environ" of Feilding, and a positive benefit both in the present and in the future.
