The Auckland Shooting Case.
ACCUSED REMANDED. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, May 11. It appears that the occurrence was a most sensational one. Lowris'3 wife and family live oa the Epsom road. Until last October tbe husband had not been home for about ton yars. On the date mentioned Lowrie, who is 62 years of age, arrived home, and it is alleged that ho wanted his family to support him. Out of this proposal considerable domestic friction arose, which culminated in what is alleged to have been an attempt to shoot Mrs Lowrio. Mrs Lovrrie states that shortly before 3 o'clock she was standing at the door of th? cottage with her two sons when ber husband tired at them with a revolver. :■ h i shut the door as soon as she saw tbe weapon, and the bullet lodged in the lintel. Her husband then went round the Lome, broke a window, and then fired another shot. This bnllet was found in tbe sill of the door. He then went round the house with a piece of scantling and broke all the windows. The family state that another shot was fired, but this bullet has not been fonnd. Constable Hioton went in searcti of the man, and met him on the Great North road, coming towards town. He at once took Lowrie into custody, and, upon searching him, found in his possession a bulldog revolver, three barrels of which were enpty.
