The American Tariff.

o (Per Press Association.) Washington, May 6. Tha Financial Committes of the Senate has reported on the proposed tarift, and it has been largely altered. First-claes wools have been reduo.d from eleven to eight cents per pound, and second-class from twelve to nine cents. May 6. In the new wool tariff third class wools have been reduced from 10 per cent to 7 per cent and 4 per cent. Ihe tariff comes into operation on July lat. The Senate by 43 to 26 rejected the Foreign Relations Committees' Amendments in the Arbitration Treaty. The majority, however, does not reach the two thirds required to secure tbe absolute rejection of the amendments. Berlin, May 5. Germany has protested against the sugar duty under the Dingley tariff of United States of America as being equal to a bounty, and threatens to retaliate.
