War between Greece and Turkey.
o FURTHER DESPERATE FIGHTING. DEFEAT OF THE TURKS | Per Press Association] Athens, May 6. The Turks made a vigorous attack on the Greek outposts at Phersala. The Duke of Sparta and Prince Nicholas led the defence. Tbo fighting was sharp but indecisive. Later reports show a great battle is ragine at Phersala. The Turks renewed the attack on Vilestino. There was fierce fighting and severe losses on both sides. Eventually the Turks were repulsed. The Turks bave abandoned Trikhara and oeenpied tho heights dominating Arta A Greek ironclad captured a schooner at the entrance of the Gulf of Salonica. Amongst those on board was Ashmead Bartlett, the Member for Sheffield. Ho was sent to Athens. Constantinople, May 6. The trial has been concluded of tbe Turkish officials and others arrested in connection with the massacre of Armenians at Tokat. Six of tbe accused were sentenced to death and one to fifteen years. The others received lesser terms.
