Terrible Disaster in Paris.

FIRE AT A BAZAAR, 200 PEOPLE BURNT TO DEATH. 100 PEOPLE INJURED. (Per Press Association.) Paris, May 4. A terrible occurrence took place during the holding of a charity bazaar in Paris. A fire broke out, and in a fearful panic which ensued 80 parsons were killed while 100 were injured. About 1800 of theoliteof the city were present. Many appalling scenes were witnessed. The City is in mourning, many ladies of high rank having perished in the Bazaar fire, including the Dnchesse D'Alencon, wife of the Prince Ferdinand of Orleans, the Comtesse de Mun, wif« of the Comte de Mun, Member of the Chamber of Deputies for Finistere, also the Comtesse St. Perier, Comtesso de Bouneval, and Baroness Didier. Amongst the first of the visitors on the scene were President Faure and M. Hanotaux. May 3. The leading ladies of the Conservative Catholic party were taking a prominent port in a bazaar. There were 5000 people present, it boing the busiest part of the afternoon, and the heat was stifling. It was suddenly seen that the hangings near the cinematograph were on fire. The flames spread rapidly, and in thirty minutes the entire building was destroyed. As soon as the flames were observed a cry of " fire " was raised, and a terrible panic ensued. Crowds rushed for the only egress where there was fi terrible crush, the shrieks of the women and children being heartrending, and the weakest were trampled to death. The fire was worst on the right side of the bazaar, the flames cutting off the conausunis cation, and preventing attempts made to reach the exit, most of tho people being pushed to the opposite side and dashed against a stone wall. One hundred and fifty of those in the ! Bazaar escaped through a window. After the fire the ainbulnnce men found tho limbs of many of tha victims broken, and the skulls of many others fractured. Jt is impossible to recognise the features of many of the dead. It is estimated 200 were killed, and 100 injured.
