Stock, Wool, and Produce Markets.
PRODUCE MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report on the produce markets for the week ending 30th April : — Wool— There is nothing freih to report from England, and the future is still very uncertain. No doubt the present aspect of politics on the Continent has a good deal to do with the uncertain position of affairs, and until the future is more clearly defined we do not anticipate any material improvement in the outlook. At our fortnightly sale, held to-day, we offered a small catalogue, which met a ready market at fnll time's values. For good clean crutchings there was considerable competition under tbe hammer ; some lots realised np to 4Jd. We oan recommend consignments of this class of wool for our next sales, which will take place on Friday, the 14th May. Sheepskins— At our fortnightly auction sales, held to-day, there was a good attendance of buyera, and competition was rery keen. We offered a good catalogue, but tbe quality was not firstclass ; piices paid, however, were comparatively high. Under the hammer, good crossbred pelts, early shorn, realised from 2s to 3s Id : well woolled merinos, ls 6d to 3b; late shorn and poorly- saved pelts, np to ls 8d each; well-woolled lambskins, la 9d eacb. Since our last report we have placed privately foll-woolled crossbreds at np to s' d per lb. Hides- Very few coming forward. We repeat former quotations, viz.— Prime well-flayed heavy ox, 17a to 17s 6d ; medium, 14s to 14s 6d ; green cow and light ox, 8s to 12s each ; damaged and sloppy, l|d to 2d per lb. Tallow— Reports from Home show a further decline, and tha outlook is not at all promising. Locally all coming to hand is readily saleable at fully equal to former quotations. Wheat— The demand for fowl wheat still continues good, and very few prime parcels are offering. We have made sales up to 4s per bushel, sacks extra, ex store, Oats— Tbe market is still very firm, and we anticipate a further advance before lone. Quotations are for prime short feed, 2s 7d, sacks in ; discolored and long feed, 2a 6d per bushel, sacks in, ex store. Maize — Market very bare. Prime dry is worth 3s 4d per bushel, sacks in, ex wharf. Chaff— Market very Btrong, with a very short supply of prime quality. Prime bright heavy in oats is readily saleable at 75s per ton, ex wharf, Backs extra or returnable.
