The Record Reign.
o (Per Press Association.! London, May 3. The Chinese special envoy to the Diamond Reign celebrations is enraged consequent on having been placed in quarantine at Victoria, British Columbia. Auckland, May 4. At a meeting of citizens at tbe City Council offices today (Mr Upton pre siding) various schemes to celebrate the Queen's record reign were discussed — namely, a children's hospital, a convalescents' home building, and a home or institute for the blind. After a lengthy discussion, the two first named proposals were carried, but finally left for public meeting, to be convened later on. The Albert Land settlers intend celebrating the anniversary of the landing of the expedition in Auckland in 1862, and, as the settlement is named after Prince Albert, the settlers propose signing an address to tbe Queen on tbe occasion of her record reign.
