The Recent Floods.

HAWKE'S BAY RELIEF FUND. Tbe Mayor, Mr Walter A. L. Bailey, has received a telegram from Mr G. H. Swan, the Mayor of Napier, expressing his thanks for the practical sympathy displayed by the Feilding subscribers to the Relief fuud,

RANGITIKEI RELIEF FUND.

(Per Press Association.) Napier, April 29. The Hnrbour Board dredge, " J.D.0," and a steam trawler, have been searching the bay on a line with the place where the two bodies were found, but without result. As showing the damage to the county roa^s, a party only yesterday succeeded in riding from Konini, on the Main Patea Road, twenty miles from Napier, usiug two sets of horses and taking 12 hours on the journey. Their last communication with the outside world was thirteen days before they were even five miles from town, The roads at Meanee are so bad *hat tho coach Beryice, which it waa at tempted to re-establish, has had to be abandoned. There is only one road from Napier open to vehicular traffic, that being a roundabout route to Hastings, which is impassable when the rivers are high, as a large bridgo has had two spans swept away. Christchurch has sent £200 to the fund, which now reaches over £3000.
