THE STOCK MARKET.
Mr Matthew Henry reports on his Palmerston sale of the 22nd instant as follows : - A fair supply of cattle of mixed ages came forward. Sheep were below the average. Consequent on the floods, the attendance was very small, and no spirit manifested while the stock passed at auction. For sheep, however, there was a fair enquiry, and all penned changed hands at prices about equal to those ruling of late. There was practically no demand for cattle, and few lines were sold. The following are the day's quotations : — Cattle — Springing heifers, £2 15s to £2 17s ; forward cows, £1 10s. Sheep —Forward to fat ewes, 6s 5d ; f.m. ewes, 5s Id to 5s 3d ; cross, bred call ewes, 3s 6d ; woolly iambs, culls, 3s 2d.
