Government is calling tendeis for the construction of a narrow gauge railway from Wangaratta to Whitfield, a distance of 30 miles. Thia is the first of a number advocated by the Railway Committee. Mr Reid returned to Sydney to prepare for the opening of Parliament. Sydney, April 20. The Governor to. day unveiled in Hyde Prtrk, a life-sized bronze statue of the iaie Right Hon. W. B. Dalley, the money for which was raised by public subscription. The ceremony took place in the presence of a distinguished gathering, and speeches were made eulogistic of the late statesman.
