Primitive Methodist Church.

o The parsonage anniversary on Good Friday was a failure owing to the heavy downpour of rain all day but on Monday the weather was almost perfect, and a social gathering was held at Mr G. Adams, Makino Eoad, where there was a large attendance. The gathering commenced about 2 p.m. wben games were began in an ad joining paddock and continued until about 4.80. when the bell rang for tea, which was provided in the open air. The tables wero very tastefully decorated and from 150 to 200 persona sat down and enjoyed the good things provided. After tea an address was given by Miss Minchen, recently from the Old Land. After this the games were continued in the open air until night came on when an enjoyable evening was spent inside. A very good programme consisting of songs, recitations, readings, etc., was gone through. At tbe close the Rev. J, Cocker moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Adams, explaining tbat they bad borne the whole of the expense and responsi bility of tbe gathering. Mr Adams, in replying, said tbat be bad always tried to be a good neighbor. 4s he saw those present enjoying themselves, especially *he yonng people, he felt fully repaid for all the labor tbe gathering bad caused. Three cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Adams and the gathering broke up a little before 10 p m., all present baviDg tb orougbly enjoyed tbcmselyes.
