Farewell Social.
' (From our own correspondent.) I The members of tbe congregation attending the Wesleyan church at Apiti, ' entertained their pastor, the Bey. Mr Peryman, at a social in lhe churoh on Wednesday evening last. The inclemency of the weather prevented a number of the congregation attending. Mr Guy accepted the chair and in his opening address referred to the guest of tbe evening in very flattering terme. Messrs Miller and Birks gave addresses. The latter gentleman spoke of the difficulties a minister had to contend witb, the number of " crotchety " people he came ixx contact witb, tbe various hindrance! he had to moet in the execution of his duties, aud tbe pleasare he enjoyed in doing hia Master's will. Mr Jolly gave a recita. tion. Mr Peryman m replying to tbe pleasant things said about him, asked that tho members of the congregation becomo coworkers with their new minister, the Rev. Mr Jones. During the evening the choir contributed several anthems, and Miss Brickman sang a solo.
