Paymaster Craddock' s Sentence.

o (Per Press Association.) Sydney, April 8. The court martial sat to-day to hear the charges against Craddock of embezzling £2020, stealing £343, making a false entry, and desertion from bis ship. He pleaded guilty, and, in a lengthy statement to fche court, said a few months ago he became infatuated with a lady who was now bis wife, and was distracted by the knowledge that he very shortly would bave to leave the Australian station and be severed from tbe lady. On a sudden impulse be took the money, his mind being practically un hinged through brooding, and he pleaded strongly for a chance to redeem his character. He was found guilty and sentenced to three years and dismissed from the service with disgrace.
