Cheltenham Notes.
fFEOJI OUB OWN COKBESPONDENT.] The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last Monday in the school house. Present — Messrs J. Bruce, O. S. Niccolls, W. Evensen, T. Ryan, and Doherty. Mr W. Evensen presided during the absence of the chairman, Mr W. W. Mills, who is away in Taranaki on bis well-earned holiday- The chairman read the correspondence. It was resolved to vote for Mr Spurdle as member for the Education Board to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Carson. Mr J. R. Johnston was appointed auditor. The chairman was instructed to write to tbe Board asking them to erect a fence round the master's new residence ; also a small fence to divide tho boys' and girls' play ground. As the election of new members takes place on the 26th April householders are requested to get nomination papers as required by the Act, so as to have them in the hands of the chairman on or before 19th April, at 8 p.m. The meeting then adjourned to tha day of the election. Mr Banks, of Fowlers, has finished 1 the master's new building, giving evefy , satisfaction, and M r Coventry intends to move into bis new house at onoe. A meeting was held at Cheltenham i on Wednesday, April 7tb, in connection with the Cheltenham and Kiwitea Sports. Mr Mitchell, in the chair. There was a full attendance. The balance-sheet of last year wes read, showing funds in hand of £14. It was resolved, on the liberal offer of Mr Bruce re the track, to call a meeting of all tbose interested in sports of all , kiuds on Saturday, 17th inst. The meeting also granted a bonus to the secretary and his assistant for the con* , siderable amount of troublo they had , been put to.
