Tennis Notes.

A general meeting of the Feilding Lawn Tennis Club was held yesterday afternoon in the Bank of Australasia buildings, a large number being present. The object of the meeting was to consider the proposition of forming a Croquet Club in connection with the Tennis Club. After considerable discussion it was decided that a committee consisting of Messrs Barton, Coote, Richmond and Brabant ascertain the amount of ground required and probable cost of milking a croquet lawn, and, if necessary, the price of the ground adjoining the present courts, and to report at a meeting to be held at the same place on Tuesday, the 27th inst., at 4 p.m. It appears that according to the new rules croquet is played on a much larger lawn than it used to be, and the present unoccupied ground at the tennis courts would not be large enough. This meeting also decided to hold a dance on the 14th May, and that the ladies who provided afternoon tea during last season be asked to provide supper. The following committee was selected to make and carry out necessary arrangements in connection with the dance :— Mesdames Macarthur, Barton, Monckton, Coote, Dyer, and Hill, Miss Fry, and Messrs Coote, Dyer and Richmond. This dance committee are asked to meet in the Bank of Australasia build ings at 4 p.m. on Thursday (to-morrow), to make necessary arrangements. The Courts are now closed for the season and a man is weeding and top • dressing them, the weather being so suitable for this work. The committee contemplate having a good turf for next season's play.
