CORONER FOR FEILDING.

When the daily increasing importance , ( )f Feilding is considered, combined with * she fact that it is the centre of the Rangitikei electorate we think the time ( ias now arrived when a resident coroner < should be appointed. Under the present 1 >ystem when the services of such an < nfficial are unfortunately required, the ' police officer in charge has to telegraph ) to another town for the coroner to come here, a course which not only causes ' unnecessary delay, but adds consider- ! ably to the cost to the colony by extra travelling expenses. At the present time, so far as we arc aware, no one has yet been appointed to fill the position vacated by Mr Jaiues Liuton, the late coroner, who has left the colony to take up his residence in New Kout Wales. There can exist no very valid reason why two gentlemen should not be appointed, one for each electorate.
