• ■♦ (from our own correspondent.] The concert and dance in aid of the Awahori Library Building Fund was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday night. There was a very large and appreciative audience present, the hall being packed. The concert was opened witha minstrel troupe ; song, Mr Rogers ; song, Miss Revel, " The Nightingale's Trill." was splendidly rendered. Song, MrT. Mends, "Tra La La," was received with rnncb applause, but as the programme was a long one encores were not" allowed. Song, Miss Phillips, "If the Waters could Speak as they Flow " ; song, Miss Rogers. A very comical farce, "Professor Pills," which caused roars of laughter, brought the first part of the programme to a close. On resuming after the interval Miss Bartlett very ably played a pianoforte solo ; adialogue, by Mr Pilkington and the Garrity Bros., was very good ; song, Miss Revel ; song, Mr Collingwood, " Failing " ; a duet by the Misses Patterson and Bartlett was very well sung, and received very merited applause; song, Miss Revel, "Scenes tbat are Brightest," was also a great treat ; song, Mr Flynn, " Mary Ann," also took very well ; song, Miss Rogers, song, Mr C. H. Tarrant, " The White Squall ; song, Miss Hamilton, song, Miss Bortletfc. A comical farce " Lodgings," which kept the audience in roars of laughter, brought a very enjoyable concert to a close. The accompaniments were played by the Misses Revels, Bennett, and Bartlett. At the close ot the concert Mr Tarrant in a few well chosen words, thanked the audience for their attendance. The room was then cleared for dancing which was kept up to an early hour. This was also a snecess, visitors coining from all round the district. Mr McMinn, of Palmerston, supplied the music.
