At the Woman's Council this afternoon Mrs Louisa Blake read a paper on old age pensions, advocating pensions for all over 65 irrespective of class or wealth. A resolution in favor of a universal system of old age pensions was carried by eleven to four. On the motion of Mrs Sheppard a resolution expressing to Sir John Hall ou his departure for England grateful remembrance of his efforts on behalf of woman suffrage ,was carried unanimously. la the evening the resolution of the committee affirming the necessity of refuting Lady Stout's protest against tbe action of the executive) and asserting that they had in no sense failed in their duty, was confirmed unanimously. Mrs Bullock's motion that District Court Judges and Stipendiary Magistrates should be placed in the gam e position as Judges of higher courts iv respect to tenure of office and fixity of salary was negatived by six to one. Mrs Hendrie read a paper on equal pay for equal work, pointing out that it was only just that women should receive tbe same pay as men when they did the same work and did as well, It was unanimously resolved that the Council was of opinion that in all callings where men and women are engaged in the same work equal wago should be paid for equal work.
