PALMERSTON NORTH STOCK SALE.
Matbew Henry, of Palmerston North, under March 11th, reports : — The sheep yards were well occupied to day with an entry considerably above tbe average. The cattle pens were fairly well occupied the ontri&s being composed chiefly of weaners and young steers. The attendance of the public was good, and a considerable interest was taken in tbe sale, resulting in the greater portion of business being done at auction. With little; exception the few lines passed in changed bands before the close of the day, so that very little stock left the yards unsold. Subjoined are quotations : Cattle — 18 mouths steers, £2 7s ; yearlings to 15 moaths, £1 15s; mixed year* lingH, £1 3s ; weaners, 15s to 20s ; empty heifers, £2 5s ; forward cows, £2 Is ; fat cows, £3 2g. Sheep— 2-tooth wethera, 6s 3d ; 2 and 4 tooth do, 7s 3d ; 4 tooth do., 7s 6d ; 2 and 4 tooth ewes, 6s 6d to 7s 2d ; forward ewes, 6s 8d ; fat ewen, 6s 9d ; lull-mouthed ewes, 4a to 5s 3d.
