Hobart, March 15. The Tarawera, which arrived on Saturday, encountered a fierce hurricane during tbe voyage. Four men while fishing in Derwent River had their boat capsized. Three named Hall, Bellin, and Hooper were drowned. All were married men. Melbourne, March 15. The trial of Phillips for the murder of Brady is proceeding. Accused pleaded not guilty. A young bank clerk named Trader, attempted to commit suicide as a result of excessive cycling which drove him insane. He lies in a precarious state. Perth, March 14. The following candidates have been elected by Parliament to the Federal Convention : — Sir John Forrest, Messrs Lesteere, Leake, Piesse, Hackett, Loton, James, Hassell, Sholl and Taylor.
