Stock, Woo], & Produce Markets.

LONDON WOOL SALES. (Per Press Association). .London, March 11. At the wool sales the opening rates were maintained. A moderate selection was offered, and there was keen competition for the best descriptions. Faulty kinds were slightly easier. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London house, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Co dated 11th March: — Compared with closing rates of last London sales, the market is very firm for good greasy combing merino, but has declined 5 per cent for other descriptions. CHARLES CARR'S STOCK REPORT I held a successful sale at Apiti on Thursday last The sale was well attended and a considerable number of cattle and sheep came forward in small lots. Most of tho sheep were sold, the cattle were not in demand and only a few were sold : — Cattle — 18-month steers, 38s; wean ers, 15s ; bullocks, 65s ; mixed 18 month steers, 139s ; yearlings, 245. Sheep— Wethers, 6s 4d to 7s 8d ; full mouth ewes, 3s 5d to 4s lid ; 6- tooth ewes, 6s lOd ; mixed 2 tooth (Bmall), 4s lOd, lambs, shorn, 2s 6d to 4s. __^^_ _ _____ GORTON & SON'S REPORT. At our Feilding sale yesterday the bulk of a heavy yarding consisted of ewes and lambs, only a few pens of wethers came forward. Competition was keen for all classes of good quality but inferior sorts were uncertain of sale. Straight lines of well grown lambs readily changed hands at an advance on late rates. An unsatisfied demand existed for sound good framed wellwoolcd Lincoln ewes, a pen bred by Mr W. Gibson of Kiwitea, after spirited competition roahsed 9s 2d. On account of Mr Jas. Mackay wo sold a pen of prime heavy clippiug Lincoln wethers for 9s. All cattle yarded changed hands under the hammer but one pen of weaners which showed too much milking strain, at prices rather better than of late. We quote:— Cattle — 2£year steers HI 13s 6d to £2 19s ; 18 to 20-month heifers, i23s 6d ; yearlings, 255 ; weanerc 22s fid ; 18 months steers, £2 Os 6d.
