•- The following are the positions of the teams competing for the Manawatu As> sociation Championship : — Games
Palmerston and Colyton have yet to play a match before the first round is completed. According to the Association rales the three leading teams are supposed to play off to decide the championship, but the result really lies between Palmerston and Birmingham, the former having the best team competing this seasou, while the champions of the past two seasons (Colyton) bave gone to pieces. Rongotea gained a forfeit against Feilding, and thus secured third place with six points, while Palmerston, on past performances, and not having lost a match this .season, should easily dispose of Colyton. Therefore, Palmerston (with 10 points) and Birmingham (8) will be left to fight out the championship in the final round. Birmingham has been second in the contest for the last two seasons. A match for theMLR.U. championship will be played at Feilding on Saturday next between the Birmingham and Palmerston Clubs. In the event of the latter winning they will secure the championship for the present season, while in the event of Birmingham proving the winners another match will have to be played to decide the championship. Therefore the result of this match will be awaited with some interest.
