The Feilding Star. Oroua & Kiwitea Counties Gazette. Published Daily. THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 1897. THE WAR NEWS.
\ London telegram informs us that great activity is being displayed in tbe uglish naval stations, the leave of officers have been curtailed and several warships are always ready fo* sea with steam up. This may be accepted is an indication that the beginning of the end is not far off In a few hours the question of peace or war will be decided. The Greeks do not feel inclined to accept the conditions proposed to them by the Great Powers and the Premier, M. Delyannis, designated the note issued by the former as savage, impious, and unjust. Four days were allowed by the Powers for the Greek Government to accept their ultimatum, and that period would terminate to day. If we may juHge from the tone of the speech of tii.' (iieek Premier, and the spirit the (Greeks bave always exhibited since the commencement of the trouble, that ultimatum will not be very willingly accepted.
