The Feilding Star. Oroua & Kiwitea Counties Gazette. Published Daily. TUESDAY, MARCH 2, 1897. THE LICENSING ELECTION.

Jt will be well for both the public and the holders of hotel licenses to remember that on the day of the election for a licensing committee the following clause 10 of the Act will be in force : — That every day on which the election of the licensing committee takes place shall be and be deemed to be a public holiday after mid-day, and such half-holiday shall be deemed to be a holidaj within the meaning of the statutes for the time being in force, referring to public holidays ; and, further, between the hours of 12 noon and 7 o'clock in the evening, it shall be unlawful to sell intoxicating liquors in any licensed premises. It will be remembered that on the occasion of the last genera] election, that part of the claase referring to the sale of intoxicating liquors was rigidly carried out by the hotels in Feilding, and we anticipate the same course will be followed on the day of the coming election.
