The following are the traffic returns for the Napier-Taranaki section for the four weeks ending January 2nd, 1897, and for the corresponding four weeks 1896 : —
The total receipts for the colony to January 2nd were £942,822 15s lOd and for the same period last year £859,394 11s a very substantial increase for the current year.
