AUCKLAND CARNIVAL.

(Per Press Association) Auckland, February 6. The citizens' carnival of tbe Auckland Cycling Olub was held to-day in the Domain, 2000 being present. Auckland Cycling Club Handicap, 1, 2 and 3 miles— Hunt 1, Forbes 2. Auckland Cycling Club Championship 2 miles Campbell 1, Hendry 2. Five Mile Inter- provincial Scratch Race— Hunt (Wellington) 1, Clarkson (Invercargill) 2. Auckland Wheel Race, 2 miles — Bamsay 1, Lyons 2. The events were well contested and in most cases there were close finishes. In the scratch races tandems were used as pacemakers and some good times were recorded.

(Per Press Association.) Sydney, February 7. Shepherd, a Sydney cyclist, lowered the record from Melbourne to Sydney by thirty-six hours, covering the distance in four days and four minutes. Mblbournb, February 7. Tbe match between Ken. Lewis and Martin resulted in a win for tbe former by two events out of three. Lewis appropriated the mile by a wheel in 2min 49 8 sth sec, and the ten miles by a length in 23min 58 3 sth sec. Martin secured tbe five miles by a lap and a half in 11mm 9iec. Ten-mile Championship. — Kuhle, 1 ; Porta, 2 ; Walne, 3. Time, 24min 40sec. Martin fell.
