The Stock Market.
Mr Charles Carr reports as follows :— • At Birmingham sale on Monday, more stock came forward than was advertised. Bidding was slack, and there was no improvement in prices, At Feilding, on Friday, there was a decided improvement in the tone of the sheep market, bidding was spirited, and every pen was sold, mostly under the hammer. Owing to the rough weather several lots of sheep did not come forward. Quotations : Birmingham— 2-tooth ewes, 6s ; wethers, 5s 6d to 5s 9d ; 18 mo. steers, 33s 6d. Feilding — Yearlings, 25s ; weaners, 15s : store cows, 30s to 40s ; 2-year steers, 40s ; 2-year heifers, 355 ; fat ewes, 5a Id ; old ewes, 39 ; shorn lambs, 2s lOd ; 2-tooth wethers, 5s 3d to 7s 2d ; mixed 2-toothn, 5s Bd. Messrs Lowes and loms report of their fortnightly stock sale at Mas ter ton yesterday : — We had a good entry in sheep, embracing all classes. Competition all throughout was much better than at last sale, with an improvement in prices. We cleare d all excepting one pen of aged ewes. In beef some prime bullocks came forward, and met with a ready sale at sound rates. Store cattle were in better enquiry, all good classes selling. Pigs were in good supply, nearly all of ' which found purchasers. j Fat ewes made 5s 6d ; forward ewes, 4s to 4s 6d ; store wethers, 6s ; young breeding ewes, 5s to 5s 6d ; sound mouthed ewes, 3s to 4s 6d ; aged ewes, 2s to 2s 6d ; best lambs, 4s ; other lambs, 2s 3d to 3s 6d ; fat bullocks, best, £5 ss ; medium, £4 ; store bullocks, £3 ss ; young steers, £2 10s ; fat cows, £8 10s ; eighteen- months old cattle, £2 ; dairy cows, £4 ; calves, 18s to 20s ; store pigs, 10s to 12s ; weaners, 5s to 6s 6d.
