Fatal Accidents.

(Per Press Association) Christchurch, Febrnary 5. Mr J. M. Maxwell, manager of the Zealandi* Soap and Candle Works, waa instantaneously killed to-day by a quarter ton cask of tallow falling on him. Auckland, February 5. Capt. Bewick, engaged in the island and intercolonial shipping trade for SO years, met his death to-day. The steamer Scotchman fouled a yacht moored in the harbour. The latter's bowsprit caught Capt. Bewick, hurling bin overboard. He expired shortly after being picked up.
