He steered Poranei Potae to victory in 1 the Midsummer Handicap on New Year's 1 Day, 1896, and the dividend was £80 12s. On January Snd last Castleton rode Quicklire and Donovan, who each paid a good dividend, and at the last 1 Poverty Bay Turf Club's Meeting the > deceased jockey had the mount on Merry ■ Maid in the Tauranea Stakes when that mare won and rewarded her backers with a £47 dividend.
