The Wool Market.
The U.F.C.A. are iv receipt of London cables to the effect that the wool sales are well attended, aud the prices for crossbreds are unchanged. (Per Press Association.) London, Jan. 19. The wool sales opened to-day with a flat market. Prices declined about 5 per cent. January 20. At to-day's wool sales Charles Balme and Bustou and Jacombe catalogued 9629 bales. The selection was poor. There was a good attendance of buyers j but a dragging sale as far as competition was concerned and there was much withdrawing. Good merinos fell five percent j and faulty 1.l per cent below December closing rates. Crossbreds ranged from par to 5 per cent lower, but finest de- I clined most. | Napier, Jan. 20. At the second wool sale of the season yesterday, the bidding for pieces, bellies and locks was animated, and in this class of wool last sales rates were maintained. Most of the lots were sold. Fleece wool generally suffered a drop of about from a farthing to a halfpenny, as compared with Jasr sales. Lambs' wool was practically neglected.
