The Citizens' Life Assurance Company.
We beg to call attention to the adver tisement of the Citizens' Life Assurance Company which appears in our columns to-day. We have been favored by the Company's district agent, Mr Harris, with copies of the annual report and balance-sheet, together with an editorial summing up of the business of the Company in a leading London financial paper ' The Commercial World ' of Ist May, 1896. By the latter we find that notwithstanding the commercial depression of the last few years the affairs of the Company have prospered exceedingly, and an unusually liberal bonus rate has been secured for policy-holders. We just give one example, that of a policy for £500 on which an annual premium payment of i'2o was made — the bonus added to the policy was £17 10s or 87 per cent of the premium paid. While the problem of old age pensions, as a State movement, is still unsolved, the Citizens' Life Assurance Company " has ' gone one better," as on a perusal of the industrial tables we ascertain that on payment of a premium of Id, 2d, or 3d weekly, from infancy to age 65— very desirable " nest eggs," are secured to the ' survivor, and in the event of previous death something tangible is paid to the heirs And as a convincing proof of the growing popularity of the Citizens', we may mention that for the year just ' terminated only y per cent of policy- ' holders lapsed, <
