The Fire at Pahiatua.

(Per Press Association.) Pahiatua, January 8. It broke out in Knight & Sons, butcher's, aud destroyed also (2 u ' r^' s t0 bacconiMt ; Brenton, grocer; Parkes, bootmaker ; Geklerds, fruiterer and fancy goods. It was stopped after doing coHsiderable damage to the New Zealand Clothing Factory. The whole block belonged to Miss M. Williams, daughter of T. C. Williams, aud was insured in the London Liverpool, aud Globe for £900. Other iasurunccs are • Gelderds ; Stock aud furniture, 1:250 South British, and £250 London Liverpool aud Globe ; Brenton, stock £250, South British ; Parkes, £500, stock, Northern ; Knight and Sons, £50, Northern Assurance ; Quirk, £75, Northern Assurance ; Blair's stock was damaged. It is in sured in the Northern and United, tor an amount unknown. Parker estimates his loss at £400 over insurance. Nothing was saved from Knight's, Quirke's or Brenton's.
