The accident occurred throngh tbe bafiliug winds aud currents. The , damage is trivial. After inspection, she proceeds on her voyage to Clarence river, New South Wales. Dunedin, January 6. There was a large gathe-iug at St. Paul's Schoolroom to-night to bid farewell to Bishop Nevill, who is about to leave to attend the Lambeth Conference. A presentation was made and complimentary speeches uttered. The Bishop said he intended to get as much as ho could for the diocese, while in England. It was intimated duriug the evening that Canon Robinson had been ap pointed Archdeacon. Auckland, Jan. 6. At the meeting of the council of the New Zealand Educational Institute today, it was resolved, on a remit from North Canterbury, that the Minister for Education be requested to alter the primary school curriculum so that teachers may select a certain number of class and additional subjects, instead of, as at present, being compelled to treat the whole ot them.
