Serious Bush Fires.

(Per Press Association) Mastebjon, Jan. 6. The bush fires in the Forty Mile Bush are spreading, particularly on the Wellington Special settlement No. 1 Block, Hastwell and Mauriceville, where the stock, fencing and buildings have been destroyed. Martin Kennedy's property near Mauriceville, lost 2000 acres of grass and fencing. The loss of stock is unknown. A family named Budd had a narrow escape from being burned alive at Dryer's Rock yesterday. If the high wind blowing at present continues it must result in further heavy damage. A fund has been started for the relief of the destitute settlers who lost homes and stock.
