Narrowly Escaped Hanging.
(Per Press Association) Sydney, December 31. A sensational stcry comes from Tocumwal. A man named White, who was suspected of having, robbed a drunken man, was captured and an attempt; was made to lynch him. The man was hauled up to a beam by a leathern strap, ■nd rescued only when almost black in the face. .
