The Plague in India.
I Per Press Association] Calcutta, Dec. 30. The ravages of the bubonic plague are causing terrible scenes to be enacted in Bombay. In one street alone 20 funerals started in as many minutes. The lower class natives furnish the bulk of the victims, while the native Christians pass almost scathless. This is said to be due to their more cleanly habits. The festivities and social functions of the season are practically a dead letter. Those in a position to do so have fled to more healthy localities. The panic amongst the native castes is extreme in its character.
