SERIOUS CHARGES AGAINST A BANKRUPT.

Five informations have been laid by Mr G. J. Scott, D. O. A., against Joseph Loney Kimbell, charging him with having obtained certain property from Messrs Casteudyk and Focke, wins and spirit merchants, Wellington, valued in the aggregate at £218 6d 2d by falsely and fraudulently representing that, with the exception of the amounts owed to the above firm, he waa not indebted to any other person in a sum exceeding £50, whereas he was indebted in sums much exceeding £50. A farther information has also been laid charging tbe same bankrupt with having failed within three years of. bis bankruptcy to keep such books of account as are usual and proper in bis business of hotelkeeper and as would sufficiently set forth his business transactions and disclose his financial position. The summonses to appear bave been served on Mr Kimbell, and the cases set down for bearing today, but in all probability fresh summonses will be issued and tbe cases heard at a later date. —Standard.
