* (Per Press Association.) UUNEDIN, Dec. 14. At a conference between the employers and employees in the furniture trade a log was agreed upon. All matters in dispute are being amicably arranged. Tbe minimum wage was fixed at 8s per day, and tho proportion of apprentices was fixed at one to three journeymen or a fraction thereof. It was decided to only recognise two classes of journeymen and apprentices. Wellington. This Day. The Telephone Exchange has now 1100 connections, and the Government have decided to double the size of the building. Woodville, This Day. Tbe man found dead in the police cell yesterday morning was Carl Ulseman, not Hausman. The verdict at the inquest was death from natural causes.
