The official declaration of' the poll for j Wellington City has knocked from 300 ! to 500 votes off each of the six leading candidates and brings Wilson fitch instead of sixth. Tbe reason of the heavy reduction in the numbers poiled at Wellington is that upon recounting the votes it was found the returns from one booth had been counted twice over. There was some dual voting, but not more than usual. Auckland, Dec. 9. The seamen's vote increases Sir Maurice O'Rorke's majority for Manukau by 218. It is reported that an effort is to be made to upset the Pahiatua election on the gronud that bribery was resorted to. Two candidates for Wellington, Messrs .7. J. K. Powell aud A. Warburton will forfeit their £10 deposit. Mr Warburton j polled 90 to Mr Hutchison's 6942. Mr Powell raked together 194. Mr Earnshaw, ex M.H.R., in a letter to the Dunedin Star, expresses his regret that after the poll was declared be told the elftctors to go to h .
